Maize Corn (DDGS)

Maize Corn (DDGS) Distiller’s Dried Grains with Soluble

The dried residue left behind after the starch fraction of maize (Corn DDGS) is fermented with yeasts to make ethanol is known as Distiller's Dried Grains with Soluble, or DDGS. After fermentation, the leftover fermentation residues are dried and the ethanol is extracted through distillation.

For cattle, DDGS is a great source of energy and easily digested protein. It is quite tasty, rich in protein, and a good source of easily obtained, reasonably priced organic phosphorus. The main sources of DDGS's high energy content are fat and fiber.
